Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce has told Sky Sports that Newcastle United’s interest in Andros Townsend isn’t even in the back of his mind.
The Eagles were dumped out of the FA Cup this afternoon, as Manchester City hammered them 3-0 at Selhurst Park thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Yaya Toure.

It’s now just one win in eight games under Allardyce, who replaced Alan Pardew as Palace boss in December, and that one victory came against League One side Bolton Wanderers in an FA Cup replay.
Palace are in real trouble ahead of their midweek Premier League clash with Bournemouth, and Allardyce has been working hard to bring in new signings having already landed Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester City.

Some players may leave Selhurst Park though, and one player being heavily linked with a move away from the club is winger Andros Townsend, who only joined the club last summer.
Townsend, 25, left Newcastle United for Palace over the summer, and whilst he was viewed as a smart signing for the club, he has so far notched just one goal and one assist for the club, though he did play the full 90 minutes against Manchester City today.
As reported by Sky Sports, Newcastle are now keen to re-sign Townsend to boost their promotion hopes, but no deal has been struck with the Magpies so far, with just three days to go until the transfer deadline.
Now, Palace manager Allardyce has told Sky Sports that he doesn’t know what will happen with Townsend, but given that he hasn’t been told of an acceptable bid from Newcastle for the wide man, Townsend’s future isn’t even on his mind.
“I have no idea what the situation is with Andros other than Steve [Parish] has not told me that Newcastle have made any kind of bid for us to consider. For me that’s not even in the back of my mind,” he added.
