The talented attacker has been linked with a host of clubs this month.

Aston Villa are interested in signing Exeter City’s attacker Ollie Watkins. It is reported by the Daily Star that Steve Bruce has targeted him as a potential replacement for Jack Grealish, who could be heading to Middlesbrough.

They report that he could be worth more than the £1.75 million that Swansea City paid Exeter for Matt Grimes in 2015 and that Mansfield have recently had a cheeky bid for the player rejected.

Villa would not be alone in the chase for Watkins, who has reportedly attracted plenty of interest. But given their status in the Championship they would certainly be able to attract the 21-year-old to Villa Park.

It comes as Villa reportedly consider sending academy graduate Grealish to Boro in their attempt to bring Jordan Rhodes in to the club.

The club may feel that bringing in a proven goalscorer and then Watkins could be better for the club in the long-run then sticking by the obviously talented but previously troublesome Grealish.

Watkins has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances this season and recently provided all three assists as the Grecians defeated Colchester United 3-0 in League Two.
