Southampton have lost Jose Fonte and Virgil van Dijk to West Ham United and injury respectively.
Southampton have discussed Spartak Moscow defender Serdar Tasci as a possible replacement for the injured Virgil van Dijk, according to the Daily Mail.
Van Dijk is expected to be out for 10 weeks with damaged ankle ligaments, suffered just days after the sale of centre-back partner Jose Fonte to West Ham United.
That leaves the Saints with only Maya Yoshida, Florin Gardos and Jack Stephens as available options, hence the need for reinforcements ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

And Tasci, along with Everton’s Phil Jagielka and Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho, is reportedly being considered by manager Claude Puel.
The 29-year-old former Germany international has featured in just eight of Spartak’s Premier League fixtures this campaign, and has six months left to run on his contract – which could encourage Southampton to swoop.
Tasci, who began his career at Stuttgart before moving to Russia in 2013, spent the back end of last season on loan to Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich.

Should Southampton pursue the signing of Tasci, he could expect to feature in next month’s League Cup final against either Manchester United or Hull City.
Would Tasci be a good addition for the Saints?
