Middlesbrough fans have been voting for the player that they would not mind seeing the back of this month.
The results from HITC Sport’s poll looking at the Middlesbrough player fans would not mind to see the back of this month are in. But which player did Boro supporters suggest they would not mind seeing sold this month?
3. Daniel Ayala (12%)
Middlesbrough’s Daniel Ayala
Daniel Ayala has found his chances at Boro limited this season, after the arrival of Arsenal youngster Callum Chambers. The big Spaniard, who is still only 26 years old, is struggling for game time, and could well be looking for more regular football elsewhere. With Ben Gibson and Chambers holding the back line well, Boro fans are unsurprisingly comfortable with the idea of Ayala’s departure.
2. Jordan Rhodes (30%)
Middlesbrough’s Jordan Rhodes
Perhaps the most likely Boro player to leave in this window, Jordan Rhodes looks all but set to depart the Riverside this month. The striker, who joined a year ago from Blackburn Rovers, has failed to make his mark with Boro fans, after scoring just six goals for the club. After the arrival of Patrick Bamford and Rudy Gestede, Boro fans also appear to be on the same page as the club’s board, seeing Rhodes’ departure as the best move for both parties.
1. Stewart Downing (47%)
Middlesbrough’s Stewart Downing
When Stewart Downing returned to the Riverside from West Ham United, many Boro fans saw the move as a real coup, and after an excellent season in the Championship, Downing proved he could still play a big role in the top leagues. However, Downing has struggled for regular games this season under Karanka’s changing systems, and at his age is likely to be keen for more reliable starts. Could a move away from the Riverside be on the cards? Boro fans certainly seem to think so.
