Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has suggested that he would like Patrick Roberts to join him at the Glasgow club on a permanent basis.
Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts has insisted to the Daily Record that he has not yet thought about making a permanent switch to Celtic.
Roberts has been on loan at Celtic for a year now, and he has received plenty of game time during his stay in Glasgow.
The winger has been used fairly regularly by both Brendan Rodgers and former Bhoys boss Ronny Deila.
Roberts faces a tough task to break into City’s first-team, leading to suggestions that he could be set to stay at Celtic for longer.
And Rodgers has already admitted that he would like to sign the 19-year-old up on a permanent deal.
However, Roberts has suggested that he hasn’t thought of the idea of making a permanent switch to Parkhead yet, as his full focus is on the season ahead.
“I am just focused on this season and trying to enjoy it,” the skilful wide man said.
“I am just looking to this season, I haven’t thought about it at all. I will think about it when it comes to it. The gaffer has been great and he has expressed to me how he likes me as a player and it is good to know he believes in me.
“I have loved every minute playing up here.”
Roberts has played 29 times for Celtic in all competitions this season, and he has scored four goals and made seven assists.
Roberts could feature this evening, when Celtic take on St. Johnstone in Scottish Premiership action.
