West Bromwich Albion’s second home league win of the season saw them ease past a travelsick Burnley side at the Hawthorns. Goals from Matt Phillips, James Morrison, Darren Fletcher and Salomon Rondon ensured Albion recorded back-to-back league wins, following their 2-1 away triumph over champions Leicester City.
It was an emotional day for Allan Nyom as the Baggies took all three points against Watford. The fullback had to endure taunts from the away supporters following an underwhelming spell at the Hertfordshire club last season. However, Nyom had the last laugh thanks to goals from Jonny Evans, Chris Brunt and Phillips.
Rondon scored his first hat-trick in English football to seal a comfortable win over Swansea. It came in a remarkable 13-minute spell which saw the Venezuelan net three times with his head.
The Baggies made a winning start to 2017 by coming from a goal behind against Hull City. Gareth McAuley’s last ditch tackle proved a decisive moment, as Tony Pulis’ tactical rethink brought the home side back into the game.
West Brom piled the misery on Sunderland to secure their sixth home win of the season. Fine first-half finishes from Fletcher and Brunt helped see off a hapless David Moyes’ side, who are now rooted to the bottom of the league.
Albion supporters will be hoping the good times keep coming at the Hawthorns, with fixtures against Stoke City, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace to come.
