Rangers boss Mark Warburton would surely want to bring the Dutchman to Ibrox.

Former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Rafael van der Vaart has this weekend confirmed a desire to one day play in Glasgow with either Old Firm club, Celtic or Rangers.

He told the Daily Sport:

“I’ve not had the opportunity to play in Scotland – but we’ll see what the future offers.

“I like Scotland, and I’ve had many team-mates at club and international level talk so highly about the passion and the rivalry that exists.

“They often spoke about Celtic and Rangers, and it does appear to be something quite special.

“So, for sure, if something was put to me, then I’d look at it.

“I’m still fit, I’m still young enough and still want to play at the highest level possible. So I would never say never.”

So should he be a potential target for Rangers?

This winter, with the transfer window coming to an end, Rangers will have no chance of bringing him in from Danish side FC Midtjylland.

He is under contract at the Danish side until the summer of 2018 but the 33-year-old is clearly open to the idea of heading to Ibrox

The midfield talent, who has 109 caps for his country, would be an excellent addition for Rangers – especially if they could get him on the cheap.

His guile and vision could be a major boost especially in the Scottish top-flight, where he could thrive at this level.

Warburton is on the look-out for bargains and Midtjylland would not be able to demand a big fee for the ageing midfielder.

Rangers would be able to add a worldwide name to their ranks and a quality player that could help bring glory back to Ibrox in the future.
