The striker put in one of his best performances for some time at Villa Park.

Aston Villa drew 2-2 in the Championship today, in a game they will have felt they should have won. Steve Bruce’s side were 2-0 up after quick-fire strikes from Ghanaian winger Albert Adomah and it looked they were going to race away with a win against their opponents Preston North End.

However, they had different ideas.

Two goals from Jordan Hugill did the damage for Preston as Aston Villa failed to pick up all three points.

There were some positives to take from the game. Adomah’s performance for example was very impressive as was Henri Lansbury on his debut for the club, following his move from Nottingham Forest earlier this week.

Another player who had a good game for Aston Villa was striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The Aston Villa stalwart has been poor for some time at the club and last season was essentially a write-off for the former England international.

But he put in one of his better performances in recent years, even bagging an assist, against Preston and it did not go unnoticed by the Villa faithful.
