The Belgian tried to get a touch on Davies’ lovely chip.
Everton have put on a fantastic display at Goodison Park to thrash Manchester City 4-0. The result was well deserved from the Toffees who were by far the better side throughout the fixture.
There were some fantastic performances throughout the Everton team, but one man who continues to garner well deserved praise is midfield gem Tom Davies.
The 18-year-old local has been earning his place in the Everton first-team recently with some solid performances but this was undoubtedly his best yet, which had a moment of magic sprinkled in.
Davies started the move, pulled off an exceptional piece of skill and then chipped Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo in almost Messi-like style to give Everton a 3-0 lead.
Goals from Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas and Ademola Lookman completed the rout.
But the goal from Davies garnered the most praise for its brilliance with former Everton attacking midfielder Don Hutchison tweeting:

Meanwhile, another former Everton player commented on Lukaku’s clear attempt to steal the goal.
Brian McBride, who spent a spell on loan at Everton in 2003, had this to say on Lukaku’s attempt:
Lukaku thought about tapping that in. Or even tried to.— Brian McBride (@BMcBride20) January 15, 2017
In the end it was clear that Davies did not get a touch on the ball and Everton fans were more than happy to see the teenager get a much deserved goal.
