Newcastle United are plotting a move for Derby County’s Tom Ince as they look to ensure that they secure promotion from the Championship.
A report in The Sun has suggested that Newcastle United are hoping to boost their promotion hopes by going after Derby County winger Tom Ince.
The Magpies are currently second in the Championship, but a shaky run of form of late has allowed Brighton to go top and given Reading the chance to move to within three points of the automatic promotion spots if they win their game in hand.

It is therefore understandable that Rafael Benitez has decided to put one of the division’s most in form players on his list of targets for the January window.
The Sun reports that Newcastle are considering making an £8 million bid for the 24-year-old, whose performances have been the catalyst for Derby’s march into the play-off picture. The Rams are currently seventh and just two points off the top six.

Ince has been incredibly influential lately, scoring eight since their victory over Sheffield Wednesday in October – including the winner over West Brom in the third round of the FA Cup at the weekend – while also contributing three assists during that run.
And if Newcastle were able to land him, and Ince was able to replicate the form he has shown for Derby in recent times, it would surely be virtually impossible for any team to deny the Magpies a top two spot.
