HITC Sport understands that Elliot Lee is wanted by Charlton Athletic.

Charlton Athletic are ready to bring in the son of their former midfield ace Robert Lee, HITC Sport understands.

Elliot Lee is currently with Barnsley, but he has been pushed down the pecking order since his summer arrival from West Ham United and is set to leave on loan.

A host of League One and League Two clubs have been in touch with Barnsley about a deal for the 22-year-old with the likes of Southend, Millwall, Oxford, Barnet and Crawley Town.

HITC Sport understands, however, that Lee – whose father Rob played at Charlton for ten-years - is keen on following in his father’s footsteps.

Lee senior played over 300 games for Charlton, whilst Elliot has played around 50 games - starting with West Ham and also including loan spells with Colchester, Luton, Southend and Blackpool.

Robert Lee's other son Oli is also a footballer and is currently with Luton Town.
