A report on Friday suggested that Villa are keen to bring their former captain back on loan.
There is always much debate about potential transfer targets, but Aston Villa fans were divided on Friday by the Telegraph‘s report that Steve Bruce is considering attempting to bring former captain Fabian Delph back to the club on loan this month.
Delph was one of Villa’s best players in his latter seasons at the club, but left in hugely acrimonious circumstances in 2015.
The midfielder was due to move to Manchester City before apparently changing his mind and publicly announcing his intention to stay at Villa, before then completing the full 360-degree spin by joining the wealthy club.

His time at City has been unsuccessful on an individual basis, however (with the notable exception of his rising bank balance), as injuries and a hugely increased standard of competition for places have restricted him to just eight Premier League starts for the club, and none at all under Pep Guardiola this term.
Now, a report from the Telegraph has suggested that Bruce will look to capitalise on this lack of game time by attempting to strike a deal to bring the 27-year-old back to Villa Park.

That, if true, is a remarkably bold move. Delph would undoubtedly increase the quality of Villa’s midfield to a huge degree, but he remains public enemy number one amongst a large chunk of the fanbase.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Villa supporters simply could not agree on their feelings about the potential move after the report surfaced:
