It had been suggested that McCormack could be joining Wolves on loan this month.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce was not able to contain his laughter as he was asked on Thursday by reporters about the possibility of Ross McCormack leaving the club on loan in January, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
McCormack joined Villa from Fulham for £12 million in the summer but has failed to set Villa Park alight so far this season, registering just three goals and one assist in 19 Championship games.
That lack of goalscoring form, and the prominence and importance of later summer arrival Jonathan Kodjia to the club, had led to suggestions that he could be allowed to leave the club temporarily this month.

However, Villa have already sold Rudy Gestede to Middlesbrough this week, and with both Kodjia and fellow attacker Jordan Ayew at the African Cup of Nations for the next fortnight at the bare minimum, it seems unlikely that any other attackers will be allowed to leave.
A report from the Daily Mail on Wednesday suggested that Wolves, along with McCormack’s former club Fulham, are keen on a loan move for the Scot.
Bruce, though, has dismissed that rumour in emphatic fashion, pointing out that the move would not make any sense for Villa at this stage.

A visibly amused Bruce told reporters, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail: “As if I’m going to loan McCormack to Wolves. I don’t know where it’s come from.
“I don’t know where it’s surfaced from, it’s a total load of rubbish. I mean, come on? It doesn’t even make sense!”
Managers often deny media reports, but the mirth with which Bruce dismissed this particular rumour would surely suggest that McCormack will not be going anywhere any time soon.
