Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers have both been linked with the Australian midfielder, as have Championship rivals Norwich City.

Derby County, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Norwich City are among the clubs to have expressed an interest in Jackson Irvine, according to The World Game.

The Australian publication reports the trio are among six interested parties from England’s top two divisions, along with Swansea City, Huddersfield Town and another, unnamed outfit.

Irvine has excelled since leaving Ross County for Burton Albion in the summer, scoring eight goals in 24 Championship outings. However, the player’s manager, Nigel Clough, insists there have been no approaches so far for the Australia international.

Derby boss Steve McClaren has already signed Middlesbrough midfielder Julien de Sart, but has also been linked with a move for the more attack-minded Henri Lansbury.

And with several other sides credited with an interest, the Rams may well view Irvine as an alternative to the Nottingham Forest captain.

Wolves are by no means short of midfielders, although new boss Paul Lambert is keen to add more Championship experience, and is likely to have been impressed by the 23-year-old exploits so far.

According to reports, Norwich will have to sell before they can buy this month – which may come as a boost for both Derby and Wolves.
