Bruce is allegedly prepared to allow the summer signing to leave to free up funds for a January overhaul.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce could be prepared to leave starting XI mainstay Mile Jedinak leave the club this month to free up funds of a January overhaul, according to a shock report from the Mirror.
Jedinak joined Villa in a £4 million move from Crystal Palace in mid-August and has started 19 of the club’s 22 Championship games since his arrival.
The only game he has missed under Bruce was the disappointing 1-0 defeat to Cardiff City on Monday, with the Birmingham Mail reporting that the Australian was unwell.
However, in news that will likely come as a huge surprise to most Villa fans, it appears as though the 32-year-old is not quite as indispensable to the club as thought.
The Mirror claims that Bruce would be willing to allow his midfield leader to move on this month as he looks to free up space and funds to overhaul the squad put together by former boss Roberto di Matteo in the summer.
That will come as a big shock to supporters, with Jedinak having generally been the most impressive and consistent man in a central midfield light on quality options.
Aaron Tshibola is out of favour under Bruce, and neither Gary Gardner nor Ashley Westwood have risen to the top so far this term.
A report from L’Equipe on Wednesday claimed that Villa are interested in signing Ligue 2 side Amiens’ Mali international midfielder Guessouma Fofana this month.
The Mirror’s report also claims that fellow summer signings Ross McCormack and Tommy Elphick could also be moved on this month.
