Newcastle United, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion are among the clubs said keen on the midfielder, whose employers will reportedly rebuff any attempt to sign him in January.

A string of clubs, notably Newcastle United, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion, have shown an interest in Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart, the Echo reports.

It is claimed the Reds have already rejected a number approaches for Stewart, who they are adamant will not be allowed to leave in January.

All three clubs have been tipped to add to their midfields this month, with Newcastle linked with a move for Tom Cleverley at the weekend and West Brom still said to be keen on Morgan Schneiderlin.

Villa, meanwhile, have struggled in that department of late, with Ashley Westwood’s performance against Cardiff on Monday widely criticised.

However, it looks as though the trio will have to wait until at least the summer if they are to land Stewart, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly impressed with the 23-year-old’s progress over the past 12 months.

It is claimed the Reds, who handed Stewart a new five-year deal in November, will re-assess the player’s future at the end of the campaign.

Stewart is said to be valued within the £10-12 million bracket, which is unlikely to deter either Newcastle United, Aston Villa, or West Bromwich Albion.
