Liverpool cult hero Jari Litmanen comments on side's title ambitions

Liverpool's Loris Karius looks dejected after conceding their second goal

Liverpool take on Manchester City this evening.

Former Liverpool attacker Jari Litmanen has been discussing the club’s form this season, stating that fans at Anfield are now enjoying watching the team play again under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool are in good form and there is no doubt they must be considered as title contenders. The club are currently second in the Premier League table, six points behind league leaders Chelsea, ahead of their meeting with Manchester City in the Premier League this evening.

Litmanen is a fan of the way Klopp has the fans back on board at Liverpool but also expressed his concern at how Liverpool cannot shut out a game when need be.

The Finnish legend, who spent 18 months with Liverpool in which he won the UEFA Cup, League Cup and FA Cup, wrote in his column for Yle:

“Liverpool have been greeted to rise to fight for a top-four place and this is the case.

“The team is back playing in such a way where fans again at Anfield has enjoyed.

“The network will swing both ends. Liverpool made the most goals in the entire season, but let the most goals.

“Looking ahead, it is clear that Liverpool get bored seeing out games.”

There is no doubt Liverpool have been clack defensively this season, with the goalkeeping situation not helping matters, and the team happy to attack and simply outscore the opposition.

At the moment it appears to be working, with the side winning their last three to put themselves in a strong position in the title race.

Manchester City should provide a sterner assessment of their title credentials this evening.
