The French winger has come good in recent weeks.

Leeds United winger Hadi Sacko has been trying to explain why he has not struggled in English football, like some former Newcastle United players.

Newcastle went through a period of buying French-based players on a regular basis. Some of those arrivals proved successful, others less so.

The likes of Henri Saivet, Florian Thauvin and Remy Cabella all struggled at Newcastle but Sacko has been doing well for Leeds. He believes that his style simply suits English football better than those that countryman that have flopped across the Channel. He told Sud Ouest:

“At first, language was a barrier. Now everything is going better and better. I took English classes. My partners help me a lot. Driving to the left, it was not a problem, I made it in two days. I'm starting to become a real Englishman!

“Each player has his career, his qualities and his defects. I think my football matches very well the game we practice in England. I feel really good. It takes a lot of recovery because the pace is high, with many matches. It's a discovery. I hope it will continue like this.”

The winger has been in good form for Leeds recently and after arriving as a relative unknown on a loan deal from Sporting Lisbon has played his way into a regular starting position at Leeds.

His pace and power certainly lends itself more to the English game then some of the characteristics the Newcastle flops possessed.

Leeds have the option to buy Sacko from Sporting, and whilst his final ball needs some work, Leeds fans will be wanting to see the direct winger given a chance full time. Hopefully he can continue to prove himself a better acquisition then some of Newcastle’s French imports.
