Scott Brown has made a cheeky joke regarding Ibrox

Celtic's Scott Brown applauds fans after the game

The Celtic captain will lead out his troops against Rangers at Ibrox this weekend.

Scott Brown has joked to The Record that he might get a round of applause from Rangers fans when Celtic travel to Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.

Both Old Firm enemies hostilities this weekend as Celtic look to pick up a victory which would see them move 19 points clear of second-placed Rangers.

Brown is perhaps the man who the Gers supporters despise most but the midfielder did get applauded at Ibrox back in 2014, though it was when Scotland beat Georgia 1-0 in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

It has been over four years since the 31-year-old played for Celtic away to their Glasgow rivals and it should be quite a spectacle.

And the Hoops skipper has joked that he might get clapped off the field again at Ibrox. "I got applauded for once, I might get applauded again," he said to The Record.

Brendan Rodgers's side are vying for a third successive Old Firm win this season.

The first, at Parkhead, ended 5-1 to Celtic, before the Bhoys then beat Mark Warburton's troops 1-0 in a League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

Moussa Dembele - who scored three in the league meeting - netted a last-minute winner that day and although it looked a close game on paper, it wasn't.
