The 24-year-old has scored five goals in 14 starts in the Championship and six goals in all competitions for Preston so far this season.

Hugill is highly-regarded by Preston boss Simon Grayson with the talented forward being handed a new two-year deal in September to keep him at Deepdale until 2018.

Preston signed Hugill from Port Vale on a free transfer in the summer of 2014 after the striker saw out his contract at Vale Park.

Hugill scored two in his first six appearances for Preston in the 2014/15 season before enjoying loan spells at Tranmere Rovers and Hartlepool.

Preston are keen to keep hold of Hugill, but they are bracing themselves for interest in the striker when the transfer window opens in January.
