Leeds United are reportedly keen on Bradford City defender James Meredith.

Leeds United are reportedly keen on a deal for Bradford City defender James Meredith, according to FourFourTwo Australia.

Meredith is out of contract at the end of the season and Leeds are reportedly monitoring his situation with a view to next summer.

Meredith, 28, has been at Bradford City since 2012 after a spell with York City, and has played more than 130 games for the League One side.

The former Derby County trainee is an Australian international with two caps to his name.

Whether Leeds United pursue their interest could depend on their current first choice left-back, Charlie Taylor.

Like Meredith he is out of contract at the end of the season, and is yet to sign a new deal. Ideally Leeds would like him to stay, but it makes sense that they are weighing up alternatives.

Meredith has played in 19 League One games for the Bantams this season, scoring once and providing one assist.

FourFourTwo Australia report Meredith is keen to test himself in the Championship, although Leeds of course have aspirations to play in the Premier League, and if they win promotion and Taylor still leaves, they could adjust their list of potential targets accordingly, which may not include the Bradford defender.
