Newcastle United are bookies favourites to land Manchester City’s Fabian Delph.
Quite the rivalry has struck up between Newcastle United and Aston Villa in recent seasons, with the midlands side having a key role in relegating the Toon on two separate occasions.
Failure to beat Villa last season in the penultimate Premier League game saw Newcastle effectively relegated along with their opponents, although it is the Magpies who look certainties to bounce straight back up.
It has now emerged that Newcastle are currently favourites with bookmakers Ladbrokes to sign former Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph, priced at only 4/1.
Delph left Villa in 2015 just days after pledging his future to the club, moving to Manchester City.
The move backfired as he failed to make the Euro 2016 squad with England, and he has struggled with injuries.
A lack of playing time has seen a market open on Delph leaving the club this January, and Newcastle head the queue.
Newcastle are favourites to land Delph at 4/1, with West Bromwich Albion following at 5/1. Everton are third at 6/1.
The Northern Echo reported this week that Newcastle are keen to sign a central midfielder this January, and Delph would fit the bill, bringing experience and surely motivation to prove a point.
