The Romanian international has been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light this week.

A La Liga star, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, has confirmed he’s not interested in a move to English football.

Sunderland have recently been linked with a move for Romanian striker Florin Andone as David Moyes looks to bring players in to strengthen the club in the fight against relegation.

The Chronicle reported earlier this week that the 23-year-old is wanted by Sunderland to help them in the fight for survival.

Now the Romanian international has spoken about the links to Sunderland and insisted that he is not interested in a move to English football.

He told Marca this week he has no interest in heading to England and that he is happy at current club Deportivo La Coruna:

“I am very happy here. I will not go abroad. The Premier (League) does not attract me.

“Right now I’m at the best club in the world because I am very comfortable.”

Andone only joined Deportivo in the summer from Cordoba and has been in good form with his new club.

Sunderland meanwhile are hoping to strengthen their side ahead of a relegation battle but have limited funds and Andone would have likely been an expensive target anyway.

This statement should effectively end any interest they had in the player and Sunderland can now begin to look elsewhere in their transfer pursuit for the winter.
