Steve Bruce explains why QPR game could be a potential banana skin for Aston Villa

Aston Villa will be looking to bounce back against Queens Park Rangers, after suffering two defeats in their last three outings.

Speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce warned his players of the potential dangers they will face when they take on Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Sunday, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.

Villa now find themselves seven points adrift of the promotion play-off spots, and it will be absolutely crucial for them to string together a run of wins, as they head into the new year, and ensure that they close the gap on those above them in the table.

Bruce highlighted Tuesday's loss at Norwich City, and their lack of competitiveness, as something that they must change for Sunday's trip to London, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:

"We were nowhere near against Norwich City and weren't even at the races. Going out in front of the media is hard when you have seen something like that. QPR won't give up, Ian will be wanting the big scalp live on TV. We weren't up for the challenge against Norwich. We need to be up for it against any Ian Holloway team."

The Midlands outfit need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible, to help re-assert themselves in the race for promotion.

Sunday's match against QPR marks the start of a five game spell for Villa that sees them play four teams currently inside the bottom seven of the Championship table.

And a win would be the ideal way to gather some momentum as they head into the new year.
