Hibs reportedly want to push through a deal for Commons, who is yet to feature under Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, before Saturday.

Celtic’s Kris Commons could leave Parkhead for Hibernian today, reports the Scottish Sun.

Former Bhoys boss Neil Lennon is said to be stepping up his interest in the player he brought to Glasgow in 2011, after seeing his promotion-chasing side hit by injuries – and Commons is reportedly keen on the idea of a fresh start in the Scottish capital.

Lennon, whose Hibs team travel to Greenock Morton on Saturday evening, said on the topic of emergency loans: “That’s an option and something we are looking at.

“We have to go domestic and can’t go elsewhere for someone short-term. We have to get someone as soon as possible and we’ve made some calls.”

Commons is yet to feature for Celtic under Brendan Rodgers and the the 33-year-old has no future at Parkhead, the Edinburgh Evening Times reported earlier this month.

The Englishman, who shares an agent with Lennon, is out of contract at the end of the campaign, however, his reported £20,000 weekly wage packet could be a sticking point in a deal to take him to Easter Road.

Dylan McGeouch, Liam Henderson and Anthony Stokes have each moved from Celtic to Hibs on loan over the past few campaigns and the two clubs are thought to share a positive relationship.

Commons has scored 89 goals in 227 appearances for the Bhoys and played his part in five title and three domestic cup wins.
