Sheffield Wednesday have been playing Sam Hutchinson in midfield to good effect.
Carlos Carvalhal told reporters at Thursday’s media conference, broadcast via the club’s Facebook page, that he is happy with Sheffield Wednesday’s options at centre-back.
The Owls head coach opted not to replace last season’s loan signing Michael Turner during the summer transfer window, preferring instead to drop Sam Hutchinson into his back four.
Despite spending his formative years in that position, the former Chelsea player has spent much of his Hillsborough career to date in central midfield.

And since he was restored to the middle of the park for last month’s draw at Fulham, Wednesday’s performances have noticeably improved – with Hutchinson arguably the team’s most influential performer.
Though fit-again centre-back Glenn Loovens has taken the 26-year-old’s place in the meantime, the Owls are only an injury or suspension, to either the Dutchman or Tom Lees, away from potentially having to play one of Vincent Sasso or Jose Semedo – who between them have played just 73 minutes in this season’s Championship.
However, when asked if he is looking for defensive reinforcements next month, Carvalhal said: “Don’t push me to talk about January because I will not – even though it is a smart question. But I am alert!

“We don’t have problems in that position. Glenn he is playing with Tom and they are playing very well. Sam can play there and he did well. We have Sasso that is a player with very good abilities; Semedo can play in that position. In last case Daniel Pudil can cover the position also.
“We are happy with what we have at moment.”
