Sunderland picked up a 2-1 victory over Leicester City in their latest fixture.

Sunderland boss David Moyes has raved about the impact that Victor Anichebe has made at the Stadium of Light, as per his comments in the Chronicle.

Anichebe was brought to Sunderland on a free transfer last summer, and he barely featured over the opening two months of the campaign.

However, since getting up to speed, the Nigerian international has been in brilliant form.

Anichebe has netted three goals in four starts for the Black Cats in the Premier League and his physicality has increased Moyes’ side attacking threat by a considerable distance.

Sunderland have now won three of their last four matches, with the Wearsiders running out 2-1 victors over Leicester City in their latest fixture.

And although Anichebe did not get on the scoresheet, Moyes had nothing but praise for the 28-year-old’s display.

“Again I think it would be remiss of me not to mention Victor, what he has done, and what he has allowed us to do in terms of building up through him and giving us another option,” he said.

“He was a bit unlucky in the first half, and he showed some really good things.”

Sunderland’s win over Leicester has lifted them up to within a point of safety, and increased optimism at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
