According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is pushing the club's board to get a deal done with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris – but the player himself is allegedly disappointed at how Spurs crashed out of the Champions League.
Spurs have been busy signing key players to new contracts in recent months, as the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Danny Rose, Harry Winks, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Harry Kane and most recently Jan Vertonghen have all signed new deals at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
With manager Pochettino keen to keep the nucleus of his side together having challenged for the Premier League title last season, he's got most of his players tied to the club for years to come – but one deal is threatening to drag on.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been touted for a new deal since the end of last season, but The Mirror claimed last month that the Frenchman has been in a contract stand-off with owner Daniel Levy over his wages.
Tottenham's Hugo Lloris
With Kane handed a bumper new deal though, the subject of a new contract for Lloris has come up again, and The Mirror now report that Spurs are set to ramp up their efforts to keep hold of the 29-year-old.
It's claimed that manager Pochettino is even pushing the Tottenham hierarchy to make sure that Lloris signs a new deal because he rates him so highly, but they may have a tough time convincing him to stay.
Tottenham's Hugo Lloris in action
The report states that Lloris is 'hugely disappointed' with how Spurs crashed out of the Champions League group stage this season, and as he wants to win trophies, Tottenham could face trouble in contract talks.
The France international has racked up almost 200 appearances for Spurs since joining from Lyon in the summer of 2012, and Tottenham will be desperate to keep him, with Pochettino confident that the Champions League disaster will actually serve Spurs well for next season's competition should they get there, and could use that as a selling point to convince Lloris to stay at White Hart Lane.
Do you think Lloris will sign a new contract at Tottenham?
