Tottenham Hotspur flop Moussa Sissoko was close to joining Everton in the summer.
Reports emanating from Italy today suggest that Everton are one of five clubs who are closely monitoring Moussa Sissoko’s situation at Spurs, with a view to making a January move for the France international, as reported by Italian media outlet CalcioMercato.
The Toffees actually thought they had signed Sissoko in the summer, before the former Newcastle United man performed a 12th hour u-turn, by signing for Tottenham instead.

The 27-year-old was heavily criticised by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week, with the Argentine suggesting that he is not living up to expectations at White Lane, as quoted by Sky Sports News:
“If you sign a player and you expect something, and you do not find what you expect, and if another deserves to be involved, then why do we play another? Because we paid money we need to put the player to play? Football is not about money. You show on the training ground that you are better than another team-mate and you deserve to be involved. Of course he needs to work hard and show in the future that he deserves to be involved in the team.”

Sissoko’s future has been thrown up in the air in the wake of those comments, and now CalcioMercato are reporting that Everton are set to rekindle their interest in the Frenchman.
They will not have things all their own way though, if they do pursue a move for Sissoko, with Juventus, Inter Milan, Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain also closely monitoring his situation at Tottenham.
The report claims that the north London outfit would expect at least €25 million (£21.25 million), should they decide to sell Sissoko.
