Speaking to reporters, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has explained the importance of being optimistic while the club go through the tough spell they are currently entrenched in, with a huge game against league leaders Chelsea on the horizon, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Tottenham put in an abysmal performance on Tuesday night, as they crashed out of the Champions League after a 2-1 defeat to Monaco, and Pochettino will have his work cut out if he is to motivate his troops so they are mentally ready to compete against the Blues at the weekend.

The Argentine was in bullish mood though, as he spoke tot he press in the wake of his side's disappointing result on Tuesday, as quoted by Sky Sports:

“Maybe we feel bad now, disappointed, but tomorrow is another day. We need to be optimistic in the club. We need to compete. Saturday will be a very big game, and go to Chelsea and try to win the game.”

Antonio Conte's men have been absolutely on fire recently, winning six consecutive Premier League games, without conceding a single goal in the process.

If Tottenham are to take anything away from Stamford Bridge on Saturday, they will need to be at their very best, both mentally and physically.

The game kicks off at 17:30 and can be seen live on BT Sport.
