HITC Sport understands a number of clubs are tracking Chelmsford City striker Shamir Mullings.
Chelmsford City striker Shamir Mullings is attracting interest from a host of Football League clubs, including Peterborough United, Luton Town and Gillingham, HITC understands from sources close to the club.
The 6ft 5in athletic striker joined Chelmsford City in the summer on a one-year contract and has quickly become a fan favourite, scoring 14 goals in 22 games so far this season.
Mullings is a former inner London youth sprint champion who once recorded a time of 10.9 seconds in a 100 metre sprint event. He turned down the chance of a promising athletics career to sign youth terms with Southend United at 16.
His displays have impressed scouts from clubs higher up the football pyramid with his mobility, powerful hold-up play, and aerial presence impressing potential suitors.
Peterborough, Luton and Gillingham have watched Mullings on several occasions this season and are weighing up moves for the former Southend United scholar.
Chelmsford have already rejected a bid from National League leaders Forest Green Rovers for the 23-year-old striker from London
It is understood that Chelmsford City regard Mullings as an important player and have subsequently braced themselves for more bids for one of their prized assets.
