At Real Madrid, Aitor Karanka worked under Jose Mourinho, learning his trade at one of the biggest clubs in world football. Since 2013, the Spaniard has been riding solo as Middlesbrough manager, successfully guiding them back to the Premier League after spending too many years treading water in the Championship.
The big question surrounding Middlesbrough right now is whether or not Karanka can channel the Special One and keep the Teesside club in the Premier League. We headed to the Riverside to see what the fans think of the man in charge, and if he is capable of keeping Boro in the top flight.
Middlesbrough sit in 15th place after 12 games, just a point above the relegation zone, but there appeared to be no doubt in the minds of the Boro faithful, with everyone confident that Karanka will keep them up come the end of the season.

One fan said "the team is too strong" when asked why Middlesbrough will stay up, while another stated that there are "worse teams than Boro" this season.
Karanka has inherited a cautious and defensive approach from his former mentor Mourinho, but fans are happy with the way he has the team playing, and remain confident that he will keep Middlesbrough in the Premier League, despite winning only twice so far this season.
