Tottenham's Vincent Janssen in action with Monaco's Jemerson
Vincent Janssen was bought to be a difference maker for Tottenham Hotspur - but has not looked a threat at all so far.
Each of Janssen's three goals for Spurs have been penalties, and he continued to disappoint last night as the club were eliminated from the Champions League.
Janssen was a 65th minute substitute with the team 2-1 down, but might as well have stayed on the bench.
During his time on the pitch, he managed just seven touches, which included one shot - which landed woefully off target.
There were high hopes for the Dutchman when he signed from AZ Alkmaar, as a Dutch international and last season's Eredivisie top scorer.
But once again he simply did not look like a threat, low on confidence, application of his talent, and without pace to threaten a technically sound defence.
Spurs need a good alternative to Harry Kane, and so far Janssen does not look like he can provide it.
The management put all their eggs in Janssen's basket in the summer and paid a high price to sign him, but it's fair to say that a few months in, fans are worried about whether they have invested wisely.
Here is a look at how Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to his display against Monaco...
We could've bought Isco, we got sissoko. We could've bought batshuayi, we got Janssen. Absolute mess— Yids (@A_jthfc) November 22, 2016
That Janssen shot in the dying moments of the game took my will to live with it.— NothingWasTheKane (@DeleHarry) November 22, 2016
Kaboul > Wimmer ; Soldado > Janssen by far— Wass (@Wvss1m) November 22, 2016
Last 2 seasons we have needed another big name striker. Janssen is hopefully one for the future, but we need another proven striker #coys— Jake Shelley (@JakeSpur) November 22, 2016
