Everton were close to doing a deal for Ahmed Elmohamady, before Ronald Koeman took over at Goodison Park.
Hull City defender Ahmed Elmohamady has confirmed on DMC Sports TV that he nearly moved to Everton last summer.
Roberto Martinez had identified Elmohamady has a target for Everton, and approached the Egyptian international to offer him a contract.

However, Martinez was sacked before the deal could go through, with Ronald Koeman coming in at Goodison Park.
And Elmohamady has revealed that Koeman’s arrival stopped his move to Everton going through.
“Last season I received offers from Everton, Crystal Palace, and Swansea City,” Elmohamady said, as quoted by KingFUT.com.
“However, my move to Everton was compromised due to the departure of Roberto Martinez, and the signing of Dutchman Ronald Koeman.”

After the deal to join Everton fell through for Elmohamady, the 29-year-old went on to renew his contract with Hull.
Koeman ended up bringing in just one defender over the summer, with Everton signing Ashley Williams from Swansea City.
Elmohamady, meanwhile, has gone on to play a key role for Hull in the Premier League again this term.
Elmohamady has made 10 league appearances for Mike Phelan’s side, and looks set to remain an important part of Hull’s first team for the rest of the season.
