First club West Ham United and Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are the early favourites for Lampard’s signature.

SkyBet are offering odds on Frank Lampard’s next club after the former England midfielder’s decision to leave New York City FC at the end of his contract this winter.

Lampard, who began his career at West Ham United but is best known for his 13 years at Chelsea, confirmed his Yankee Stadium departure on Instagram earlier, promising an announcement on the next stage of his career would arrive ‘very soon’.

And as far as the bookies are concerned, Lampard – who moved to Major League Soccer in 2014 via a spell at Manchester City – will be heading back to Blighty.

A return to West Ham United would win you the least money at this stage, with the Hammers installed as early favourites at 5/1, while Glasgow pair Rangers and Celtic are certainly worth a flutter at 8/1 and 10/1 respectively.

Rangers recently called time on Joey Barton’s ill-fated Ibrox spell – creating a vacancy for one-time England colleague, Lampard – while Celtic are already being tipped to sign Steven Gerrard, another United States-based Three Lions star of old.

Championship side Newcastle United are also an interesting prospect at 10/1, with their manager Rafa Benitez having managed Lampard briefly at Stamford Bridge, while London pair Queens Park Rangers and Fulham are potential outsiders at 16/1 and 20/1 respectively.

St. James’ Park? Celtic Park? Ibrox? The London Stadium? Where should Lamps go next?
