The result was just what manager Julen Lopetegui was looking for ahead of this Tuesday's friendly with England at Wembley, and left back Monreal will be delighted as he returns to London.

The Arsenal ace, 30, was starting at left back against Macedonia ahead of Sevilla's Sergio Escudeo and Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta – and he took his chance in the team with Barcelona's Jordi Alba out of action.

Some claimed that Monreal is better than Chelsea's Azpilicueta, with the general consensus that Morneal is getting back to his best after some shaky performances earlier this season.
