The former Leeds head coach is positive about the club's promotion chances.

Former Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn has been commenting on the promotion chances of his former club this week – insisting they could catch the top two in the Championship and earn automatic promotion.

Leeds have been in fine form recently. Based on a solid defensive platform they have fought their way back up the Championship table after a difficult start to the campaign and now find themselves in sixth position for the first time since 2013.

“It’s difficult to tell. That’s not me sitting on the fence it’s just the nature of the division and the fact that Leeds United are on such a good run. You’re hoping that’s going to continue right through the season because they’ve shown signs that they’ve got a real determination.

“So I wouldn’t rule out anything with regards to Leeds being successful because I think the top two are catchable, if I’m honest, and once you get on a run that flows through the side (and) you become a difficult side to play against.”

There is no doubt that Leeds must be considered genuine promotion candidates now after their brilliant form of late, with their standing in the league table highlighting that fact.

Next up for Leeds, after the international break, is the clash with table-toppers Newcastle United. This will prove the biggest test of their promotion credentials yet and if they can pick up a win then Leeds fans will really start to believe.
