Aston Villa have overtaken Burnley as the favourites to sign Joey Barton, according to the latest odds from bookies SkyBet.
Having been outsiders at 14/1 on Tuesday evening, odds have been slashed on Villa sealing a deal for the soon to be free agent.

Barton is set to be released by Rangers, with SkySports reporting talks are in their final stages with regard to the termination of the contract he signed in July.
Aston Villa are now regarded as Evens to sign Barton, overtaking his former club Burnley.
Burnley had previously been as short as 1/3 on, but have now seen their price rise to 2/1.
Derby County are priced at 5/1, with their price shortening, but behind that Cardiff City remain nearest, at 14/1.

The odds on Aston Villa moving for Barton are no doubt influenced by reports from The Mirror claiming manager Steve Bruce is keen on the midfielder.
Barton was part of the Burnley side which won promotion to the Premier League last season, but left on a free transfer in the summer at the end of his contract.
