Pontus Jansson’s agent has told the Watford Observer that other clubs are interested in the on-loan Leeds United defender.

Jansson arrived at Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Torino in July and has impressed in 12 appearances so far, becoming an instant favourite at Elland Road.

Eight more and the Whites can exercise a buying option the Sweden international, at a reported cost of more than £3 million.

As things stand, appearance number 20 will be Leeds’ 2 January visit of Rotherham United, which could allow time for other suitors to pounce.

Watford was mentioned as a possible destination Jansson over the weekend and his agent, former Blackburn Rovers striker Marin Dahlin, has confirmed that there has been interest.

The 48-year-old told the Watford Observer: “Pontus has done a brilliant job since he has come to Leeds and if you do that, of course there will be interest from the Premier League.

“There has been interest in him, but I don’t want to comment on specific clubs.”

Positively for Leeds, Jansson has reiterated his desire to sign a permanent deal at Elland Road, telling the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Seriously, that’s the only thing that I want now.

“I want to be here and to make a permanent deal with Leeds. I’m still waiting for that so it’s up to the president (Massimo Cellino) to do it now.

“I’m really happy and I’m here to take Leeds to the Premier League or the play-offs. If other clubs are coming to watch me then of course I am happy for that but my focus is on Leeds.”

Jansson scored his first goal for Leeds during Saturday’s 3-2 win at Norwich City, and celebrated by leaping into the away end.

The win lifted Garry Monk’s side into the Championship’s top six for the first time this season.
