Gary Rowett has heaped praise on Jonathan Grounds' display in Birmingham City's draw with Huddersfield Town, and admitted that he is a fan of Terriers winger Sean Scannell, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The Blues went into the game at the John Smith's Stadium as underdogs. Despite Rowett's men making an incredibly promising start to the campaign, their form has been somewhat overshadowed by Huddersfield, who were setting the pace during the early weeks of the season.

Nevertheless, they came away with an excellent point as Lukas Jutkiewicz's goal cancelled out Elias Kachunga's opener which had come four minutes earlier.
And Rowett believes that Grounds' ability to keep Scannell quiet was a key reason why they were able to secure a draw.

"I thought Groundsy was excellent, really good," he said, as reported by the Mail.
"Scannell is a player we have liked in the past, he has always caused us problems in the previous games.
"Scannell gave them a bit of natural width and as a full back you are left one-v-one, I thought he dealt with him most of the game and was really impressive."

With Birmingham boasting a relatively thin squad in comparison with some of their rivals, Rowett will be delighted that they have managed to keep themselves right in the promotion mix.
After 16 games, the Blues sit seventh and are just one point off the top six. And Rowett will surely be hoping that the side can keep themselves in contention until January when he can perhaps strengthen their squad ahead of the business end of the campaign.
