The Eastleigh striker scored in the FA Cup last night.
The FA Cup is starting to get into full swing and yesterday saw non-league Eastleigh take on Swindon Town at the Silverlake Stadium.
The game ended 1-1, with the National League side forcing a replay at the County Ground against the League One side.
Eastleigh took the lead in the game – with a tremendous header from a player that had Sunderland fans scratching their heads.
Mikael Mandron rose the highest to head past Lawrence Vigouroux in the Swindon goal and give Eastleigh the lead.
The French born striker, who is also eligible to represent Scotland at international level, was scoring his sixth goal in 20 appearances for the club so far this season.
Mandron joined Sunderland in 2011 from AC Boulogne-Billancourt but failed to make the grade as a Black Cat. After a handful of first-team outings and fairly unsuccessful loan spells at Fleetwood Town, Shrewsbury Town and Hartlepool United he left Sunderland this summer.
He made the brave move to drop into non-league with ambitious Eastleigh and it appears to be paying off.
His performance against Swindon was inconsistent. His goal was superb but for much of the game he looked clumsy and ungainly in a fashion Sunderland fans will recognise.
Some however believe he should have been given a better chance at Sunderland. Others, they feel Mandron has found his level.
