Sunderland need to sign players in the January transfer window, says Tony Gale.

Former West Ham United and Blackburn Rovers defender Tony Gale said on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, November 4, 2016) that Sunderland need to sign players in the January transfer window.

Gale has suggested that adding four or five new players in January would enhance the Black Cats’ chances of avoiding relegation to the Championship at the end of the season.

“If they are going to stay up, it has got to be a really big window in January,” said Gale on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, November 4, 2016).

“You are not talking about a squad, you are talking about players that are going to go into the first team. I think he needs four, maybe five players at most.”

Sunderland are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just two points from 10 matches.

The Black Cats are as many as eight points behind West Ham United, who are currently 17th in the standings.

David Moyes’s side are struggling for points and are not playing well, and there is a very good chance that they will get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Sunderland will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Bournemouth away from home at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League.

It is hard to see the Black Cats pick up all three points from the match, but they can certainly eke out a draw.
