Wolves are one of several second tier clubs currently looking for a new manager.

Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken has aimed a swipe at England’s Championship, along with former club Wolverhampton Wanderers, in his pre-Leicester City press conference, as reported by the Daily Star.

Hired in May 2012, Solbakken spent fewer than eight months in charge at Molineux, leaving the club 18th in the second tier.

His successor, Dean Saunders, took Wolves down to League One that season, although Kenny Jackett steered them straight back up again.

Jackett remained at the helm for two more years until his dismissal in July, but his replacement, Walter Zenga, has already been given the boot by Wolves new owners Fosun International.

And Solbakken, who has since led Copenhagen to two cups and one league title, feels you would have to be stupid to take a Championship job anymore.

Asked if Leicester’s high-energy style reminded him of his time in England’s second tier, the Norwegian replied: “No, Leicester have brains. I’ve seen so many brainless games there.

“I think I managed there longer than the last four bosses. I’m getting better and better every week! Maybe I wasn’t that bad after all.”

He added: “If you are stupid enough to take a job in the Championship then you have to take the blame.

“I wouldn’t have done it again. This is not a Steve Morgan (former Wolves owner) conference but I’m happy not to look into his iPad to watch players.”

Wolves look set to go back to British after Zenga’s departure, with Paul Lambert, Nigel Pearson and Tim Sherwood among the current favourites with bookmakers Skybet.
