John Souttar in action for Dundee United
According to The Scottish Sun, Aston Villa have been monitoring Hearts youngster John Souttar – and will continue to track him with Steve Bruce at the helm.
Villa made Bruce their new manager last week, replacing Roberto Di Matteo in the Villa Park hot seat, and he's claimed four points in two games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Reading.

Bruce will be hoping to push Villa up the table whilst analysing the players at his disposal, with the former Hull boss no doubt keen to bring players in and let players go during the January transfer window.
Bruce may have his own targets in mind, but The Scottish Sun report that Villa have been watching Hearts youngster John Souttar on a number of occasions this season, and will continue to track his progress even after appointing Bruce.

Souttar, 20, was one of Scotland's top young talents during his time with Dundee United, but after ten years on the books at Tannadice, Souttar moved on to Hearts in January of this year.
Capable of playing at centre back or in holding midfield, Souttar remains a promising young player, and having impressed at Hearts, he appears to have caught Villa's attention.

With new technical director Steve Round in place at Villa Park, the former Manchester United and Everton coach may have been lining up transfer targets no matter who Villa's manager is, and Souttar appears to be one such player.
Souttar would almost certainly be one for the future for Villa, and with the report stating that he turned down Sunderland in 2013, Souttar could finally be on his way to England if Villa do make a move under Bruce.
