Villa took the lead as Jonathan Kodjia’s strike was deflected into the net, but Reading hit back in the second half wben Yann Kermorgant turned the ball home after Danny Williams’ penalty was saved by Pierluigi Gollini.

The game appeared to be heading towards yet another draw for Villa, but there was a late twist in the tale as Jordan Ayew was fouled for a penalty, and the Ghanaian picked himself up to score and hand Villa a huge win.
