Gerard Deulofeu has appeared in five of Everton’s seven Premier League games so far this season.
During an exclusive interview with Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu refused to rule out a return to former club Barcelona, claiming it is every player’s dream to play for the Catalan giants.
The Spaniard moved to Goodison Park on a permanent deal last summer, but the deal included a buy-back option, leaving the door open for Deulofeu to return to the Nou Camp.
The 22-year-old sat down for an interview with Mundo Deportivo, and discussed the possibility of a return to Spain:
“In the day-to-day one only thinks about his club, in training and trying to be in the starting line-up. But obviously it is an option that is still there and Barcelona have the last word. I am calm and will see what happens. It is true that playing at Barcelona right now is very difficult, but at the same time it is everyone’s dream.”
The speedy winger has often been accused of wasting his considerable talent, with his questionable work ethic.
At the age of 22, however, he still has plenty of time left to prove himself, and show that he is good enough to play for Everton, let alone Barcelona.
During his time on Merseyside, over two separate spells, Deulofeu has made 56 league appearances for the Toffees, scoring five goals, and if he is to be considered a permanent fixture in Ronald Koeman’s starting XI, he will surely have to improve on those numbers.
