This weekend sees the return of the Premier League following the second international break of the campaign.

The late kick-off on Saturday should prove to be an interesting one as Crystal Palace host West Ham United at Selhurst Park.

Not only does it see Eagles manager Alan Pardew taking on his old team, it also sees James Tomkins face the Hammers for the first time since leaving this summer.

The focus will be firmly on the defender, with many believing it was a mistake to allow him to leave the London Stadium.

One man who did remain was Angelo Ogbonna, so how do the two players compare so far this season? We took a look the stats.

As it turns out it is the current West Ham man who has had the better start as he came out on top in six of the eight areas analysed.

He has won more tackles and more interceptions than his former teammate has managed this season.

Interestingly, though, Tomkins has won more duels, 13 compared to 11, and more aerial duels, seven compared to five.

The Italian has, however, posted more ball recoveries, 19 compared to 13, and won the ball in the defensive third on more occasions.

His passing has also been better as he has enjoyed more accurate passes, 151 to 68, and a better overall passing accuracy.

A win for Ogbonna on this occasion and West Ham will be hoping for more of the same as they look to secure their second win of the season this weekend.
