Steve McClaren has already managed Derby County between 2013 and 2015.
Darren Bent has admitted on Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 12th October, that he is baffled by the rumours linking Steve McClaren with a return to Derby County.
Sky Sports have suggested that Derby interviewed McClaren today, as they look for a replacement for Nigel Pearson.
McClaren previously took charge of Derby between 2013 and 2015, and he almost guided them to promotion.

However, ultimately, the former England boss failed in his mission to get Derby into the Premier League and was sacked after the Rams went on a terrible run of form.
McClaren was accused of taking his eye off the ball, after being linked with the Newcastle United job – which he eventually went on to take.
And Bent is shocked that McClaren has a chance to going back to the iPro Stadium, although the striker believes he would be a good appointment.

“The players are a bit baffled, like we all are,” Bent said. “We didn’t see that coming. From what we heard he left on bad terms. But he was a fantastic manager for Derby. Anyone who watched us would say we were playing some of the best football we’ve played for a long time.
“If McClaren is in the job then we would like to think Chris Powell stays. If he doesn’t and Chris Powell gets it, we would be equally as happy.
“Being in the Derby changing room, I’ve not heard one Derby player a negative thing about McClaren.”
Derby went into this season as one of the favourites to be promoted, but they have badly disappointed so far.
The Rams are currently in 20th place in the Championship table, after winning just two of their first 11 matches.
