England under-21 manager Aidy Boothroyd has urged Aston Villa star Jack Grealish not to wallow in his issues, while speaking to the Daily Mail.

The Villa star has had another indifferent start to the campaign as the Villans have struggled at the wrong end of the Championship table.

Once again he has been beset by problems off the field after stories emerged of him partying into the late hours in a hotel.

It is the latest in a series of personal issues that have threatened to derail the midfielder’s promising career at an early stage.

Grealish is currently away on international duty with England’s under-21 side and their manager Aidy Boothroyd has warned him not to wallow in his issues.

“It is important that he gets back on the horse and doesn’t wallow in the issues,” he told the Daily Mail.

“He doesn’t wallow too long in anything. He is upbeat, has plenty to say, has a lovely personality. He is playing for his country and he has to make sure he stays in this group.”

It remains to be seen if Grealish can bounce back and get his career back on track this season.

There is no denying he has the potential to be a future star but so far he has failed to live up to the big billing he has been given.

Aston Villa’s problems as a club have probably played a large part in that, with the negative atmosphere at the club hardly conducive to a youngster’s development.

Perhaps the new manager, Steve Bruce most likely, can be the one to turn things around for both.
