Newcastle United are currently third in the Championship table.
Former Newcastle United midfielder Kieron Dyer has predicted to Goals on Sunday that the club will probably not get relegated again once they secure promotion this season.
The Magpies were relegated to the Championship last season after a dismal year in the Premier League.
Crucially they managed to keep hold of manager Rafa Benitez in the summer after he had taken charge towards the end of last season.
It meant that despite their demotion, there was actually a sense of optimism around St. James’ Park heading into the new campaign.
Newcastle have since made a strong start to life in the Championship, currently sitting third and just three points off first place after eleven games.
And Dyer is predicting a bright future for them once they manage to get back into the Premier League.
“I think Norwich and Newcastle will run away with the league,” he told Goals on Sunday.
“I think it was the best thing that they went down because they’ve not got a manager who will run the club. They’ll go straight back up and probably won’t go down ever again.”
Things are certainly looking rosy for Newcastle at this moment in time.
After the 11 games of the season they are top for goals scored per game, joint fifth for creating big chances per game and they are conceding the fourth lowest goals per game.
That has helped put them within touching distance of first place and maintaining those levels will be key to ensuring Newcastle do make a quick return to the Premier League.
